We recently announced our plans for our
2020 Virtual Fall Internship Program at the Western Union Headquarters in Denver, Colorado. With this opportunity, we celebrate and support college students and graduates who are exploring early career paths and gaining real-world experience across industries.
With a resume or diploma in hand, students and graduates dive into their internships and early career programs around the globe (and these days, they may not leave their living rooms). Internship experiences are a fantastic opportunity for students to put their hard-earned skills into practice, challenge the way organizations typically think, and collaborate to provide fresh perspectives.
In preparation for our incoming class, we reached out to some of our former interns around the globe, to reflect on their individual experiences while working at Western Union. Here’s what they had to say:
What skills have you learned from Western Union that have been helpful in your current pursuits?
“Working at WU helped me build my technical knowledge skills and taught me time management. I got hands-on experience with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Impala, SSRS, and many more.” - Frenny J.M, Pune, India
What made your experience at Western Union unique?
“Daily, I would be on calls with colleagues all over the world, from Lithuania to Costa Rica to Ireland. This was my first opportunity to work on projects that would impact employees across many cultures and countries.” - Louisa Paolini, Denver Colorado, U.S.A.
What did you enjoy most about working at Western Union?
“The company culture, collaborative environment, and people.” - Sabela P.V., Vilnius, Lithuania
What have you been up to since your Western Union internship?
“Due to the knowledge I obtained in my internship, I received the opportunity as a Junior Automation Developer in the RPA department within the company. I am still studying English, and next month I start my university studies.” - Moises L.U., Santa Ana, Costa Rica
