There’s nothing like experiencing a new culture for the first time or seeing breathtaking sights like you’ve never imagined. WU researched five amazing destinations that you possibly haven’t considered before that could be your next perfect summer vacation.
Turks and Caicos
If you’re a beach lover, you can’t go wrong visiting the islands of Turks and Caicos, a hidden gem of the Caribbean. Home to over 230 miles of pristine beaches and some of the world’s most spectacular coral reefs, the islands’ waters are full of wonderful marine life. You’ll feel like you’ve time-traveled when you visit remote villages that tourism has hardly touched. Even though the islands are only a 90-minute plane flight from Miami, you’ll feel like you’re a world away.
Vietnam
Many may not realize that Vietnam is a natural wonderland. You can float by hundreds of tree-topped limestone islands in Halong Bay, and explore 400 million-year-old mountains with extraordinary cave systems and underground rivers Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. The country is also a culinary delight, with world-renowned cuisine that you can sample with locals in Vietnam’s many regional markets. Relax after your meal with a glass of rice wine and a trip to one of many fantastic spas.
Myanmar (Burma)
This ancient land is home to the Shwedagon Pagoda, a spectacular 2,500-year-old temple covered in gold leaf, diamonds, and other precious gems. You can also explore the other dazzling, golden temples of Yangon, float on the Irrawaddy River, and explore the incredible in-tact ruins of the ancient city of Bagan. There’s no wanting for adventure, yet also plenty of space to relax and meditate in Myanmar’s many sacred sites.
Andorra
Situated between Spain and France is a tiny nation surrounded by the Pyrenees Mountains: Andorra. Its astounding beauty attracts millions of visitors every year for fantastic hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. Andorra was once ruled by kings, and their centuries-old manors still stand, such as the Casa de la Vall. The country has over 300 days of sunshine a year so, you’re almost sure to find enjoyable weather, and it is advised to visit between April and October to experience the country at its best.
Bhutan
The country Bhutan is most concerned with one thing: National Happiness. This unique Buddhist country high in the Himalayas stuns with snow-capped mountain peaks, beautiful forests, and rolling, green valleys, dotted with quaint villages and towering monasteries. The country’s philosophies on life, gorgeous architecture, talented local artisans, dance festivals, and amazing natural beauty have earned Bhutan its nickname, “the last Shangri-La.”
