How to renew your Tunisian passport
To renew your Tunisian passport in France, you have to follow four steps:
- Download and complete the Tunisian passport renewal form, which you should request from the consulate nearest your place of residence,
- Make an appointment online with the Tunisian consulate nearest your place of residence. This appointment is mandatory to make your application,
- Compile and provide all the necessary documents for renewing a Tunisian passport,
- Bring your complete file on the day of the appointment. Make sure to be on time or the appointment will be canceled. The person applying for a new Tunisian passport must attend in person, regardless of whether they are an adult or a minor.
Please note that families applying for their Tunisian passports to be renewed in France must make individual appointments for each family member, regardless of whether they are adults or minors. For minors, each child must be accompanied by their parents at the appointment.
Which documents need to be provided to renew a Tunisian passport in France?
To renew your Tunisian passport in France, you must provide certain documents:
- Four 35 mm x 45 mm ID photos, in color, on a white background, that have been taken within the last six months. Please ensure you have a neutral expression and are not wearing glasses,
- Two copies of the Tunisian passport renewal application form — both completed, dated and signed by the applicant,
- Old passport that has expired or is about to expire. In the event that you have lost your passport or it has been stolen, you must provide a loss or theft report that includes your old passport number,
- Photocopy of the first page of the old passport,
- Two photocopies of the front and back of your current valid Tunisian CIN (Carte d’Identité Nationale — national identity card),
- Two photocopies of a French identity document (front and back) or any document certifying your stay (visa, residence card, etc.),
- Certificate of employment, or proof of enrollment for students,
- A tax stamp.
Please note that, depending on the consulate, some additional documents may be requested, such as a birth certificate. Similarly, Tunisian women who have gotten married and want their marital name on their passport must provide a birth certificate that makes reference to the marriage or an identity card with their spouse’s surname.
Please note that an incomplete file will lead to the application for the renewal of a Tunisian passport in France being denied. If this happens, you will have to make a new appointment.
Documents to be provided for a minor
For the renewal of a minor’s Tunisian passport, different documents must be provided:
- Copy of their birth certificate issued within the last three months that establishes the parental authority of the person applying for their child’s Tunisian passport to be renewed,
- Passport of the adult with parental authority,
- Copy of the Tunisian identity card of the adult with parental authority (front and back),
- Photocopy of the French identity document or the residence card of the adult with parental authority (front and back),
- Parental authorization, signed and legalized at the consulate,
- Proof of enrollment if the minor child is of school age,

On the day of the appointment, one of the minor’s parents will have to accompany them and provide a form of ID. If the accompanying person is not one of the minor’s parents, they will have to provide a document proving that they are the minor’s legal representative.
What is the processing time for a Tunisian passport renewal in France?
The processing time for a Tunisian passport renewal in France is approximately three to four weeks after the application file is submitted to the consulate. This can vary depending on when you apply. The new passport will be available at the consulate for three months (before being destroyed), and the old passport can be kept upon request.
When your passport is ready, you will be contacted by email or SMS. You can collect your passport at the consulate where you made your application, at the times indicated by the consulate (you will need your application receipt and your old passport, if you have it). For example, at the Consulate General of Tunisia in Paris, the collection times for a new Tunisian passport are usually Tuesday and Thursday from 14:00 to 16:00, but between 13:30 and 15:00 when single working sessions are in place.
Please note that applicants must attend in person if they are:
- Tunisian adults,
- Tunisian adults under guardianship (with the guardian present),
- Tunisian minors aged 12 to 18 (with one of the adults with parental authority present).
For minors aged 0 to 11, only one parent (or adult with parental authority) must be present.
How much does a Tunisian passport cost?
