In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Western Union Foundation (the Foundation) is proud to spotlight their partnership with Mi Casa Resource Center in Colorado. The Foundation has been investing in Mi Casa’s mission to advance the economic prosperity of the Latino community for more than 20 years. Their most recent grant supports Mi Casa’s Career Pathways program, which offers job training and career coaching to advance job quality and access for Latinos, women, and low-income individuals.
We’re proud to share that through the Foundation’s grant funding, Mi Casa was able to serve more than 300 jobseekers in the last year – including enrolling more than 250 people in training courses and helping nearly 50 people secure new jobs.
The Career Pathways program supports hardworking participants like Fernando. As a bilingual pastor of a small church, Fernando found himself struggling financially and began working part time as a ride share driver to try and make ends meet. With aspirations of starting a new career in Denver, Fernando participated in Mi Casa’s Banking Essentials Training Program where he learned new skills, worked on his resume and received coaching for job interviews. Today, Fernando is proud to have secured a job as a personal banker and is looking at a bright future ahead.
“Thank you all so much for helping me achieve my goals. I appreciate it with all my heart,” shared Fernando.
