Mike Hafer, Senior Vice President, U.S. Marketing and Field Execution, Western Union
What does a 166-year-old payments company and one of the originators of social media have in common? Well, for one they are both committed to using the latest and greatest technology to drive innovation in their industries and provide the best possible experience for their customers.
What else? Well, you may not have heard but Messenger users in the U.S. can now send money with Western Union without even leaving the Messenger app. Did your daughter spending a semester abroad start to run low on funds? And she needs to buy books by tomorrow?
No worries –you can send her money to make sure she’s prepared for class. Did your friend lose their wallet while on vacation outside the country?
No problem – you can send money in a snap through Messenger using Western Union.
The point is, digital transfers have become a part of our everyday lives, as common as texting your friend or checking your notifications. You’re busy, we get that. We also know that it’s common these days to manage life’s little tasks on the go (and often through a screen). That’s exactly why we made sending money easy, with Western Union through Messenger.
We launched our Western Union money transfer bot back in April. Now, Messenger users in the US can send money with Western Union to more than 200 countries and territories around the world.
If you’d like to learn more about our new bot, we’ll be hosting a
Facebook Live event this Thursday, June 8, at 10:00 a.m. PDT and we’d love to tell you all about it. If you can’t make that time, feel free to check the Western Union Facebook page at your leisure – we’re keeping the video up after the event. The event is happening on Facebook’s campus and I will be joined by friends from Facebook to tell you why we feel this announcement is exciting.
