Send money to Canada from the US

When completing an online money transfer from the US to a Canada bank account, you can usually send up to 50,000 USD – or the equivalent in Canadian dollars. 1. Set up your free Western Union profile online, then log in.
2. Click ‘Send now’ to start the money transfer process.
3. Enter an amount and select Canada as your destination.
4. Choose your receiver’s preferred payout method and enter their information. Or choose from one of your saved contacts.
5. Use your bank account details or a credit² or debit card to pay.
6. Go to your inbox and check your confirmation email for a tracking number (MTCN). You can follow your Canadian money transfer with this number.

An online money transfer from the US to Canada generally requires:

• A Western Union profile. Register and verify one for free with your government-issued ID.
• The full name of your loved one in Canada, as it appears on their official
• Your receiver’s phone number and sometimes their address.
• An International Bank Account Number (IBAN) and financial institution number if sending money to a bank account. You’ll also need the receiver’s account number and type.
