Car sale scam

Scammers are using websites or classifieds to advertise cars that don’t exist. They are asking their victims to make a transfer with Western Union as a proof of payment. Don’t pay for car purchases using Western Union.

Rental Scam

Sending money for deposit on a sight-unseen rental? Scammers pose as property owners or landlords and misrepresent terms and availability of a rental with fake ads, responses and requests for advanced fees.

Protect yourself from fraud:

  • Don’t send money for customs or shipping fees.
  • Don’t send money to someone you haven’t met in person.
  • Be suspicious of businesses without a verified street address.
  • Don’t pay for an item or service with a money transfer to an individual.
