Once you have your 10-digit tracking number (MTCN), you can go to our helpful Track a Transfer page and enter the number. You can also share the number – as securely as possible – with the loved one receiving the money, and they can also check the progress of the transfer.
But what if you don’t have your MTCN to hand? We appreciate people can misplace their number or accidentally delete emails, so if this ever happens to you, you’ll be pleased to know you can still check the status of your money transfer in a few easy steps:
– On the Track a Transfer page, select “Don’t know the MTCN?”
– Enter the sender’s phone number, or both the sender and receiver’s names.
– Select the receiver’s country and how much was sent
– Enter the date of money transfer
– Click continue.
This way, you’ll be able to check in on exactly where the transfer is up to. Speaking of checking on the exact status of a transfer, let’s take a look at the various transfer tracking status options.

Yes. In essence, what many people would refer to as a serial number, Western Union refer to as a Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).
A Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) is a unique 10-digit tracking number assigned to your transfer. The MTCN or the tracking number can be used by senders in the Netherlands to track your transfer in just a few minutes.
You can find the MTCN on your transfer receipt. You can also find it in your transfer history page once you’ve registered and made a transfer.
Please do not share your MTCN with anyone except the loved one receiving the money transfer, or a Western Union representative.
