Send money to Austria

The maximum amount you can send to Austria is EUR 50,000 when the money is transferred from your bank account to your receiver’s bank account. If you’d like to pay using Sofort, then the maximum amount is EUR 5,000. For a credit¹/debit card, you can transfer up to EUR 4,000 to their bank account.

If you’re sending money for cash pickup at an agent location, the maximum is EUR 6,200. To send money for cash pickup online, the maximum amount is EUR 5,000.

You’ll need to verify your identity when sending more than EUR 1,000.

Here’s how to send money to Austria through the Western Union website:

1. Log in to your Western Union online profile or register for a new one.
2. Select Austria as your destination and enter the amount you’d like to transfer.
3. Choose either cash pickup or bank account as the receiving method.
4. Pick an available payment option out of credit¹/debit card, Sofort transfer, bank transfer and cash at an agent location. Click ‘Continue’.
5. Enter all the requested information about your receiver in Austria and pay.
6. Once your money transfer to Austria has been confirmed, check your email receipt for a tracking number (MTCN).

To send money to Austria from an agent location, simply follow this process:

1. Use our website to find a nearby agent location.
2. Present the requested information about your receiver at the counter. You’ll also require a phone number, My WU^SM number or valid government-issued ID for yourself.
3. Pay by cash or debit/credit¹ card.
4. Track your money transfer using the unique tracking number (MTCN) included on your receipt.

If your loved one wants to receive their money transfer to a bank account, then paying with a credit¹/debit card or Sofort will take one business day, while a bank transfer could take 1-3 business days. For cash pickup, if you’re paying in person by credit¹/debit card or Sofort then your money transfer could arrive in minutes². By bank transfer, this could take 1-2 business days for their cash to be ready.
