Send money abroad from the UK

1. Log in or register and verify your free profile. Click ‘Send now’ to start sending money abroad.
2. Enter the destination and amount of money you’d like to send. The time your transfer will take will vary per destination, but you’ll be able to view the times as you make your selections.
3. Select ‘Bank account’. You can select a past receiver or enter your receiver’s bank account details.
4. Pay with your credit¹ or debit card.
5. We will send you a confirmation email with a tracking number (MTCN). You can share this number with your receiver to follow the funds.

Sending money abroad online for cash pickup is a fast and convenient option if you need to send funds quickly. Simply pay by credit¹ or debit card or bank transfer and the money will be ready for cash pickup in minutes².

If paying by credit¹ or debit card:

1. Log in or register and verify your free profile. Click ‘Send now’ to begin sending money.
2. Enter the destination and amount you’d like to send. Select ‘Cash pickup’ and payment by card.
3. Enter your receiver’s name and address.
4. Pay with your credit¹ or debit card.
5. We will email you confirmation with a tracking number (MTCN). Share this number with your receiver for fast cash pickup.

If sending money by bank transfer:

1. Log in or register and verify your free profile. Click ‘Send now’ to start.
2. Enter the destination and amount you’d like to pay with a bank account. Select ‘Cash pick-up’.
3. Verify your bank account.
4. We will share a confirmation email with you containing a tracking number (MTCN). Share this number with your receiver for cash pick-up in minutes².

It’s possible to send money internationally directly to your receiver’s phone if they have a mobile wallet from one of our partners and are in a country where this service is available.

2. Log in or register and verify your free profile. Click ‘Send now’ to begin.
3. Choose delivery ‘To a mobile wallet’ and enter the destination and amount.
4. Enter your receiver’s name and mobile number.
5. Pay with your bank account, credit¹ card or debit card.
6. You and your receiver will get a confirmation alert via text³ notification when the money is delivered.

The Western Union app lets you send money abroad on the go to a bank account, for cash pickup or to a mobile wallet.

1. If you already have the Western Union app, log in with Touch ID or your credentials. If you don’t have our app yet, simply download it on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. New users can follow the steps to register a profile with your email address.
2. Get started by entering the destination country and amount of money you’d like to send. Choose the payout method that works for you: directly to a bank account, for cash pickup or to a mobile wallet based on your receiver’s country. Enter your receiver’s details.
3. Pay to send your money internationally via debit or credit¹ card, or with your bank account.
4. We’ll provide a tracking number (MTCN). Share this number with your receiver to track the funds. If sending to a mobile wallet, you and your receiver will get a confirmation alert via text³ notification when the money is delivered.

1. Search for a Western Union agent location near you.
2. Go directly to the counter with your valid government-issued ID or phone number and bring your receiver’s bank and account information. Please note you may need to provide proof of source of funds, so ensure you have a bank statement, payslip or tax return with you.
3. Pay to send funds abroad with cash or a debit/credit¹ card.
4. We’ll provide you with a receipt with a tracking number (MTCN). Share this number with your receiver and they’ll be able to track the funds.

To send money abroad in person, bring a valid form of ID. Accepted IDs include current signed passports, driving licenses, emergency passports or travel documents, or ships passports. You must also know the receiver’s full name as it appears on their ID in order to send your money internationally.

If you’re sending money abroad for cash pickup, your receiver may be able to collect the funds in minutes². When you send cash abroad, both sender and receiver can easily track its progress using the MTCN tracking number online or with our app.
