To send money to a mobile phone in Nepal, you’ll need to make sure your receiver has activated a mobile wallet with one of our partner mobile phone operators in the country – such as eSewa. You can then use their mobile number to transfer the money, via an online debit or credit3 card payment.
If you prefer to do things in-person or want to pay by cash, you can use our locator tool to find your nearest Western Union® agent location.
Once you get to your agent location, you’ll need to go to the counter and speak to our friendly staff. They’ll ask how much you want to send to Nepal and request the receiver’s details. They may also ask you for a form of ID such as your driving license or passport, and proof of funds – bring a recent bank statement or payslip in case.
You can then pay the amount with cash or a card, and you’ll be given a receipt with your tracking number (MTCN). Don’t forget to share this with the receiver in Nepal too.
